Andrew Warhola. His parents were working-class
immigrants of Lemkos-Rusyns (Ruthenian) ethnicity
from Mezőlaborc, now Medzilaborce, of
Austro-Hungarian Empire (now in northeast
Slovakia)He was a central figure in the pop art
movement and a member of the avant-garde scene both
in movies, art and music. In the early sixties he
and his team produced works that propelled him to
iconic status.
1968 the feminist Valerie Solanas attempted to murder him. He was badly hurt, but survived. He died in his sleep from at heart attack at 58 after complications due to gallbladder surgery.
